When a family member requires health care, his/her medical condition may trigger a variety of other issues. Personal, family or financial concerns can prevent patients from achieving maximum physical recovery.
Our professionally trained social workers assess the needs of inpatients, outpatients, and their families related to the diagnosis of an illness, treatment options, the length of the patient's stay, the cost of medical care, and how to manage a loved one's care after he/she is discharged. Our social workers help to minimize the impact of these issues on the patient and family.

NCMC provides financial assistance to patients based on their income, assets, and needs. We may be able to assist you in obtaining government assistance or low-cost health insurance. We can also work with you to arrange a manageable payment plan.
Any patient or family member may request to meet with a social worker by asking the patient's doctor or nurse to have a social worker join their healthcare team. In some instances (including cases of child abuse, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, elder abuse, or a life-threatening event) a social worker is automatically brought in as a member of the healthcare team.
